What is the importance of amino acids in bodybuilding and fitness?

I think that probably each of us who has ever held a barbell in our hands has sooner or later heard about the so-called amino acids. But they can clearly explain what they really are - amino acids, what they are needed for, what their physical structure is, for what purpose these dietary supplements are used in "iron sports", and in particular bodybuilding and fitness, what their properties are. Not everyone. We will have to help you in this matter.

Well, to put it simply, amino acids are the tiny building blocks from which all the protein molecules in our nature are actually built. For example, just as a house is made of bricks and a pavement is made of cobblestones, all types of protein in our world (in food, in nutritional supplements, and even directly in our body) consist of tiny particles - amino acids. And since protein is present everywhere in our body (muscles, bones, tissues, organs), we can safely say that every cell of the human body contains these same amino acids. More precisely, more than half of the net weight of any cell in our body is protein, which actually consists of amino acids.

We, as bodybuilders, when we hear the treasured word “protein”, immediately imagine skeletal muscles - triceps, quadriceps and others. Without a doubt, these main muscle groups in bodybuilding contain a huge amount of protein, but in truth, we can safely say that in our body there are thousands of different types of protein, containing such important hormones for humans as:

  1. a) insulin
  2. b) growth hormone,
  3. c) IGF-1,
  4. d) enzymes,
  5. e) antibodies
  6. e) and others...

When discussing amino acids in bodybuilding and fitness, the luminaries of sports pharmacology identify 17 amino acids that are rightfully considered biologically valuable, and about 6 more that are not of key importance in sports. The so-called essential and non-essential amino acids are also distinguished.

So, gentlemen, newly minted bodybuilders, now you know what you need to be happy! If you do not yet have the type of sports nutrition described here, run to the nearest sports store for amino acids. Well, or order them for yourself in a good online store. Believe me, the benefits in muscle growth will be simply obvious! Checked!
