Unlike other methods of Zhenjiu therapy (acupuncture, moxibustion), acupressure is well tolerated by almost every person. In addition, acupressure is quite simple in technique, it is relatively safe and has no side effects, so it can be done independently at home in the form of self-massage.
Each acupressure point can perform a dual role. If the impact occurs on a point in the place where the pain is localized, the point is called local. You can influence the same point, if the pain occurs in a part of the body remote from it, then the point is called a trigger point. Electrical energy from this point is transmitted to the desired location along the meridians.
Most often, each point is used in the treatment of various diseases, although there are points that have a single function. For example, pressing on a point located at the intersection of the lines extending the thumb and index finger helps not only with pain as a result of arthritis, but also eliminates headaches, toothaches, joint pain, and also has an effect on the rectum.
People suffering from serious illnesses should not undergo acupressure without consulting their doctor. For some diseases, you need to do a soft version of acupressure that does not affect internal organs and damaged areas of the body.
Acupressure self-massage should be carried out in a calm and comfortable environment where you can completely relax. The massage should be performed while sitting or lying down. Clothing should be loose and not impede blood circulation. It is not advisable to perform self-massage before meals or immediately after meals. A self-massage session should be performed no earlier than an hour after eating. After finishing the massage session, you can drink a cup of tea.
