Trans fats destroy women's brains

Recent studies conducted by American scientists from Brigham and Women's Hospital have shown that saturated fats, also known as trans fats, are not only harmful to the cardiovascular system, but also negatively affect brain function in women. Experts conducted a study involving 40 thousand women over 45 years of age, who filled out questionnaires and completed medical tasks, the purpose of which was to determine the state of cognitive functions of each woman.

The results of the study showed that the amount of food consumed and the frequency of its consumption do not affect brain function. However, what is most important is the amount of bad fats contained in the food. They are the cause of deterioration of memory and cognitive functions in women.

Women who consume foods with saturated fats, such as red meat and butter, suffer from poor memory and cognitive function. At the same time, women who ate foods with monounsaturated fats, such as olive oil, performed better on tests of memory and cognitive function than at the beginning of the experiment.

Thus, the study confirms the importance of proper nutrition for the health of not only the cardiovascular system, but also the brain. Women should pay attention to the fat content of their diet, avoiding foods with saturated fat and opting for foods with monounsaturated fat, such as olive oil, to maintain their brain and memory health.
