Different foods have different effects on the two main processes of metabolism and energy: some of them stimulate energy production and accordingly increase vitality. Others stimulate restoration and construction processes.
Products of the first kind can be called ergotropic, and products of the second - trophotropic.
Ergotropic products are products that irritate the centers of the hypothalamus, which are responsible for producing the energy necessary for wakefulness.
Trophotropic food products are products that irritate regulatory centers responsible for the course of restoration and construction processes.
The predominance of ergotropic foods in food gives a feeling of clear wakefulness, and the predominance of trophotropic foods leads to drowsiness.
Plant ergotropic products and products with a weak effect should be used during the day, and trophotropic ones should be used for dinner, as a side dish to foods rich in protein.
Products that help you lose weight
Pronounced ergotropic foods are:
Cottage cheese, low-fat cheese, lean fish, coffee, cocoa (chocolate), tea, garlic, pepper, buckwheat, millet.
Many protein-rich foods are clearly ergotropic, but this does not mean that they should be consumed during the day.
Products that have little effect on metabolism and weight loss
More or less neutral food products:
Beef, lamb, soybeans and products made from it, cereals and pasta, fruits. Bakery products are neutral only if they are prepared without the addition of eggs, milk or yeast; otherwise, they have a pronounced trophotropic effect.
Products that prevent you from losing weight
The most trophotropic foods are:
eggs, milk, pork (especially lard), chicken and turkey meat, most vegetables, yeast baked goods; drinks made with malt or yeast. Tomatoes and potatoes have a particularly strong trophotropic effect.
When ergotropic and trophotropic foods are combined, they to some extent “neutralize” each other. Therefore, with the help of cottage cheese, garlic, pepper, you can slightly improve vegetable dishes and make them suitable for consumption during the day.
To lose weight, you need to eat ergotropic foods and avoid trophotropic ones.
