Say “no” to iodine deficiency!

Ukraine is a country with high rates of iodine deficiency among the population. In the autumn-winter period, this problem becomes even more urgent, since colds often come with colds, loss of strength and other ailments associated with a weakened immune system.

According to statistics, during this period adults more often take sick leave at work, fall into a state of depression, and experience conflicts with colleagues and loved ones. Children, in turn, are more likely to miss classes at school or kindergarten due to illness, which is why their academic performance deteriorates. What does this have to do with?! And how can this be prevented?

During the autumn-winter period, the human body is actively reconstructed, adapting to changes in weather conditions. In order for this to happen as gently and naturally as possible, you need to provide him with a balanced diet, as well as a full range of nutrients and microelements. Iodine occupies a special place in the list of important microelements, being necessary for the full functioning of the immune system, as well as brain function, the activity of the endocrine glands, etc. During this difficult period, it is especially important to replenish your diet with iodine-containing foods.

The main sources of iodine among food products are: sea fish and seafood, beans, lentils, seaweed, carrots, onions, green beans, dried plums, etc., as well as all products containing iodized salt.

Today, many food manufacturers prefer adding iodized components to their products. So on store shelves you can see water with added iodine and even chips. More recently, LUX chips with iodized salt appeared. In the process of their production, special seasonings are used, which now include iodized salt, manufactured according to European quality standards. This salt contains 15-25 mg/kg of iodized component (KIO3). LUX chips have a shelf life of 9 months, during which iodized salt does not lose its beneficial qualities.

Of course, eating chips with iodized salt alone cannot satisfy a person’s need for iodine. Therefore, when choosing a product on a supermarket shelf, carefully read the label and give preference to one that contains iodized salt, since consuming iodized salt is the easiest way to satisfy the body's need for iodine. In this case, it is important to adhere to the rule: “if there is salt, then iodized salt, if the products contain salt, then the products contain iodized salt.”

Good health for us and our loved ones all year round is a worthy motivation for following such a simple rule!
