Scientists recommend eating 9 times a day

Forget about traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner - British scientists are sure that you need to eat nine times a day. This is the only way to reduce blood cholesterol and lose excess weight.

We were accustomed to three meals a day since childhood, periodically adding afternoon snacks in camps and sanatoriums. But recently there have been many arguments in favor of increasing food intake.

Many have heard expert recommendations that you need to eat often, but not enough. This is exactly what applies to nine meals a day - the total amount of food for the day should be divided into nine servings. This contributes to the proper functioning of the stomach, and accordingly, will make us healthier and slimmer. Scientists also claim that this diet helps reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Scientists from Imperial College London conducted an experiment in which they compared the success of the diets of more than 2,000 residents of Britain, Japan, China and the United States. All participants ate approximately the same amount of calories, but half of them ate less than six times a day, and the other half ate more often.

The result showed that in the first group, people had significantly higher systolic pressure, and their weight even increased slightly.

The fact is that the more often a person eats, the faster the body gets used to processing the food that comes into it. And this helps burn more calories and put less strain on the cardiovascular system.

"With nine meals a day, the metabolic rate is higher. So frequent meals are certainly better than traditional ones, if we are talking about equal portions of food," explains Susan Jebb, a doctor of the British Nutrition Research Society.
