Traditional vegetarian dishes

Many traditional dishes are vegetarian or the presence of slaughter food is optional. Some are plant-based and vegan. A collection of such dishes, often borrowed from various national cuisines, are an important part of vegetarian cuisine.

These are, in particular, numerous dishes of Indian, Lebanese, Italian and Ethiopian cuisines, as well as Mediterranean and East Asian cuisines in general. They contain an abundance of dishes made from noodles, rice, legumes, wheat, vegetables, etc.

Russian cuisine is rich in vegetarian dishes made from cereals, legumes and root vegetables.

Some popular dishes among vegetarians around the world that are traditionally vegetarian or even vegan (or in which the presence of slaughter food is optional):

  1. Most bakery products: different types of bread, rolls, pita bread, bhatura, pita, pretzel, drying, straws, bagels, pretzels, ciabatta, etc.

  2. Porridges: oatmeal, buckwheat, millet, rice, barley, semolina, corn and others.

  3. Dishes made from legumes and soy products: pea porridge; baked beans and beans; pea, legume and bean soups; dishes (usually fried) of tofu and tempeh; pancakes, flatbreads, cutlets, meatballs and other products made from legumes or flour made from them.

  4. Pasta dishes, including numerous Italian and Asian dishes.

  5. Rice dishes: boiled rice dishes, vegetable and fruit pilafs and pilafs, risotto, vegetarian paella.

  6. Pies.

  7. Many salads are based on vegetables or fruits.

  15. Dishes of Russian and Slavic cuisine: pies, porridge, vegetarian soups, pickles, pickles, dumplings with vegetarian filling.

  16. Latin American dishes: guacamole, burritos, vegetarian chili.

Thus, vegetarian cuisine includes a huge variety of dishes from different countries of the world. Many of them are traditionally prepared without meat, fish, milk or eggs.
