Why is sleep apnea dangerous? Free your loved one from snoring

Your bed together is decorated with silk sheets, beautiful pillows and a peacock-colored blanket. Everything seems to be fine, and in the morning you, according to the poet’s words, remember the words of the night “with a smile and sweet shame.” But... your dream, alas, is not as sweet and pleasant as what preceded it. That silence and that bliss disappear when you imagine that there are no closer beings than YOU and HE. Why? Your loved one makes rhythmic, very dissonant sounds in his sleep; to put it simply, he snores.

Snoring is a sound phenomenon that occurs when the soft structures of the pharynx beat against each other as a stream of air passes through the narrowed airways. Simply put, snoring is caused by weakened muscles of the soft palate. The situation worsens when a person sleeps on his back: breathing becomes deeper, the mouth opens - hyperventilation occurs.

Chronic lack of sleep, smoking, obesity, alcohol at night - all this contributes to an increase in pulmonary ventilation and the occurrence of snoring. This phenomenon has been known as long as humanity has existed. It is not as harmless as it seems.

A short cessation of breathing usually leads to awakening. But if a person does not wake up, then even death can occur: in medicine this is called obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Snoring reduces carbon dioxide in the blood to levels incompatible with life. To protect itself, the body stops breathing completely. And only when the level of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood reaches normal levels, breathing resumes.

To get rid of snoring, strengthen the muscles of the larynx and soft palate with exercises. Tighten your muscles while pronouncing the “I” sound. Push your tongue forward, straining your larynx. Make movements with your lower jaw. Squeeze the object with your teeth.

It is useful to sleep not on your back, wear special devices in your mouth or pajamas with a brush on the back. Folk remedies help: cabbage juice, honey with cabbage leaves.

We hope these tips will help you stop snoring and spend your nights in peace and quiet!
