Ideal diet for vegetarians. Yulia Fomina advises.

Vegetarianism is becoming increasingly popular among our population. How to properly build their diet for people who, for one reason or another, have decided to give up food of animal origin, said the winner of the show Important and Happy, nutritionist Yulia Fomina.

Over the past few years, vegetarianism has become a fairly popular dietary system in the Western world. So, its essence is the refusal of food of animal origin. It is worth noting right away that most often vegetarians refuse meat, fish and seafood, leaving eggs and dairy products on the menu. But vegans (veganism is a more “hard” version of vegetarianism), in turn, refuse all products that have at least some connection with animals.

“Proper nutrition for vegetarians is as many vegetables and fruits as possible, and for vegans it is imperative to include soy in the diet,” Fomina is confident. She also emphasized that vegetarians who eat dairy products need to increase their intake to compensate for the lack of protein in their diet.

“The main advantage of vegetarianism is to reduce the consumption of food of animal origin and increase the share of plant foods in the diet. If you remove animal foods from the diet and do not increase the share of plant foods, the benefits of such vegetarianism are very doubtful,” says Yulia.

Most vegetarians live in India. This food culture has existed there for many millennia and is connected, first of all, with religion. In Europe, this culture began to develop in the nineteenth century, and in 1847 the first vegetarian community was already created in England.
