Scientists have named the most dangerous product in markets

Scientists have named the most dangerous product in markets: chopped lettuce, which is sold ready-to-eat in supermarkets. Bacteriology expert Joseph Pennington discovered bacteria in packages of chopped lettuce that were virtually indestructible without chemical or heat treatment. These bacteria can cause infection with cryptosporidium, listeria and salmonella, which pose a serious risk to human health.

According to Professor Pennington, it is safer to eat a hamburger than the lettuce that is inside the hamburger. Despite the fact that the meat goes through strict quality control, there is no such strictness when it comes to salad. The only way to make lettuce safer is through irradiation, but this method causes mistrust among the public. Therefore, to avoid bacterial contamination, it is necessary to rinse the salad very thoroughly before eating.

Failure to comply with hygiene rules when preparing salad can lead to serious consequences. Poorly washed lettuce caused a massive cryptosporidium infection in the UK, affecting more than three hundred people. Last year, a brand of washed salad mix was pulled from sale in ten US states because it contained listeria bacteria.

It is recommended to rinse the salad thoroughly even when it is ready to eat and washed. This will help you avoid infection with dangerous bacteria and stay healthy.
