The terms “night diet” or “night diet” appeared with the light hand of the American psychiatrist Albert Stankard in the middle of the last century. This specialist was the first to study the nature of nighttime gluttony and began to relieve addicts from this problem.

First of all, Stankard said that those who like to eat food by both cheeks at night are people with a large bouquet of complexes, they are addicted to sweets, they suffer from hormonal imbalances in the body, metabolic disorders, and insomnia. According to the scientist, those who like to overeat in the dark have sharply reduced levels of sleep hormones (melatonin) and satiety (leptin), which usually increase at night. Therefore, people do not sleep, but experience a wild feeling of hunger, and it is not possible to cope with this illness on their own. The doctor suggested a diet for the night that would overcome the desire to eat while everyone was sleeping.

Basic principles of the night diet:

  1. Eat right during the day. Food intake should not exceed 200 g, you need to eat every 3 hours, breakfast is required. Food should contain fiber and proteins (cottage cheese, cheese, boiled meat, eggs, vegetables). This stimulates the production of serotonin and melatonin.

  2. The first days will be tormented by attacks of night hunger. You can drink kefir, tea or water.

  3. Diet should become a way of life. It will make you give up unhealthy foods and help you lose 6 kg per month.

Thus, a diet at night helps normalize hormonal levels, get rid of attacks of night hunger and excess weight. The main thing is to stick to a healthy daily diet and be patient.
