Diet for the pancreas

The pancreas is a weak point for many women. Diseases of the pancreas (pancreatitis) are expressed in the appearance of pain, nausea and vomiting, and loss of appetite. This disease can be cured - this is a plus. The downside is that you will have to stick to the diet for the rest of your life.

Very often, attacks of pancreatitis occur after heavy feasts. Heavy fatty foods paired with alcohol are the main enemy of the pancreas.

How to avoid developing pancreatitis

  1. Give up alcohol. This will prevent damage to pancreatic tissue and inflammation.

  2. Quit smoking. Smoking accelerates the development of pancreatitis.

  3. Eat properly. If your diet contains a lot of fatty and sweet foods, the pancreas works in overdrive. Large portions of food also overload her.

  4. Fractional nutrition, 5–6 meals a day, is recommended both for those suffering from pancreatitis and for those who want to avoid its development.

Diet

The patient's diet should consist of protein foods. This includes chicken, fish and seafood, milk, cottage cheese, low-fat cheeses, legumes and nuts. Vegetable oil and butter do not need to be completely excluded from the diet it is added to ready-made foods - cereals, salads. It is best to prepare dietary cereal dishes - from oatmeal, rice, buckwheat. Soups are prepared in vegetable broth and add finely chopped potatoes, grated vegetables - carrots, zucchini, pumpkin, and sour ones - borscht and cabbage soup.

It must be remembered that the diet for pancreatic disease should be accompanied by plenty of drinking.

Important points

Fatty foods and carbonated drinks should be completely excluded from the diet it is strictly forbidden to even smell fried foods or spices, since the sense of smell is connected to taste buds and can cause false activity in the stomach. After the exacerbation is removed, this point can be eliminated: the gland will enter a calm phase and odors will not irritate the stomach.

Diet for gastritis

From the moment of exacerbation until the end of life, all food should be consumed boiled or steamed, without adding spices. Any carbohydrates must also be removed from the menu, especially sugar and flour products. The same applies to salt: at the time of exacerbation, it is advisable to eliminate it altogether.

Sample food menu

If you experience an exacerbation of the disease, you should immediately consult a doctor. Can you do it yourself? First, spend the day in bed. In case of exacerbation of pancreatitis, bed rest is indicated. At this time, you can drink Borjomi-type mineral water up to 1.5 liters per day. The water should be at room temperature or slightly warmed, without carbon dioxide. It is also possible to use rosehip decoction (not very rich), weak and unsweetened tea (with a minimum amount of sugar).

As you feel better (usually on the 3rd day from the onset of an exacerbation), a gentle diet is prescribed: slimy soups, pureed liquid porridges, vegetable purees, milk and fruit jelly. All dishes must be liquid or semi-liquid, boiled or steamed, pureed.

Next, you can diversify your diet a little. A sample menu would look like this:

1st breakfast: vinaigrette, boiled meat, crumbly buckwheat porridge.

2nd breakfast: dry fruits (prunes, dried apricots), weak tea with insipid biscuits (“Maria”, biscuits).

Lunch: salad, vegetable soup, boiled chicken with boiled potatoes, apple.

Afternoon snack: cottage cheese, dried fruit compote.

Dinner: boiled fish with noodles, weak tea.

At night: tea with milk, crackers.

Of course, it is very difficult to constantly adhere to such a diet, but in this situation you can find positive aspects. With this diet, you will not only not gain extra pounds, but you will also be able to say goodbye to them forever. After all, health is much more valuable than the fleeting pleasure of a cake!
