How to Survive Daylight Saving Time Without Stress

On the night from Saturday to Sunday, we will set the clocks forward 60 minutes and happily get up an hour earlier for work, contrary to all the desires of our brain and body. How to adapt to summer time? Read our tips.

How to overcome morning fatigue?

In fact, there’s nothing to hide when the clocks are changed to daylight saving time – it’s a big shock for the body. In the USA, there are statistics according to which the number of heart attacks increases during the adaptive period. Just as it’s difficult for us to adjust to someone else’s time zone, it’s so difficult for us to adjust to our own time zone with a new “schedule”.

What can you do to survive the clock change to daylight saving time without stress?

It’s too late to restructure yourself according to the principle “I’ll get up a minute earlier every day,” but you still can’t get away from the problem, so try to treat yourself as kindly as possible.

First, to fall asleep faster in the evening, take a bath. Go to bed early, even if you don’t plan to sleep yet, do quiet monotonous things or watch a boring show, drink hot milk with honey. Do all your morning chores in the evening (cook breakfast, pack your things) so as not to waste time on this in the morning.

No need to jump out of bed as soon as the alarm clock rings. Turn it off and lie down for a while, and in order not to fall asleep, imagine what you will do now: “I will get up, put the kettle on, then go to the shower...” If you are afraid to fall asleep again, just sit down on the bed, even out your breathing, stretch and get up. Don't close the curtains at night, don't let the alarm clock wake you up as much as the morning light.

After waking up, immediately turn on fun, dynamic music and dance to the beat while pulling on your jeans. Among morning drinks during this period, you should give priority to green tea instead of regular coffee.

Do not overload yourself with active or difficult work during this period. Try to choose a calm, gentle mode. Take breaks from work, reduce training loads for a while, postpone spring cleaning until later (great excuse, right?).

The next transition, already to winter time, awaits us in October. But everything is much simpler there, because we will sleep an hour longer.
