Diet No. 10A, also known as table No. 10A, is a specialized diet intended for patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system with circulatory failure of IIB-III degree. The main goal of this diet is to improve poor circulation, function of the cardiovascular system, liver and kidneys, as well as normalize metabolism by removing accumulated metabolic products from the body. Diet No. 10A is also aimed at sparing the cardiovascular system, kidneys and digestive organs.

The basic principles of diet No. 10A include reducing calories by limiting the consumption of proteins, carbohydrates and especially fats. The amount of sodium chloride and fluid consumed is sharply limited. Food is prepared without salt, and salt-free bread is used. The diet is also strictly limited to foods and substances that excite the central nervous and cardiovascular systems, irritate the liver and kidneys, and also burden the gastrointestinal tract and promote flatulence. Such products include extractive substances of meat and fish, fiber, cholesterol, fatty foods, tea and coffee, etc. Diet No. 10A includes a sufficient amount of potassium, linotropic substances and foods that alkalize the body, such as dairy products, fruits and vegetables. Dishes are prepared boiled and pureed, given a sour or sweet taste, and also flavored. Fried foods are completely excluded from the diet, as well as hot and cold foods.

The chemical composition and caloric content of dietary table No. 10A are as follows: carbohydrates - 300 g (including 70-80 g of sugar and other sweets), proteins - 60 g (70% of them of animal origin), fats - 50 g (20-25% vegetable) , calories - 1900 kcal. With this diet, the consumption of sodium chloride is excluded, and the amount of free liquid is limited to 0.6-0.7 l.
