The grapefruit diet is a low-calorie diet designed for 7 days. During this period, you can lose 4 to 5 kilograms of excess weight. The grapefruit diet is quite balanced and contains many vitamins and minerals. Since citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, this diet not only helps you lose weight, but also strengthens your immune system. Regular consumption of grapefruits provides the body with the necessary dose of vitamin C.
During the grapefruit diet, you need to avoid salt, seasonings and sauces (except red pepper). Meat should be lean, and fish should be lean. You can eat canned food, but only in its own juice.
Between main meals, you are allowed to drink a glass of kefir to satisfy your hunger. You can also eat an apple, orange or a teaspoon of honey with green tea. You can drink natural coffee without sugar.
Diet for every day of the grapefruit diet:
1 day:
Breakfast: grapefruit juice without sugar or 1 grapefruit; 2 pieces of lean ham, 25 g each; coffee or tea without sugar.
Lunch: 1 grapefruit; 250 g of vegetable salad, seasoned with lemon juice; coffee or tea.
Dinner: 150 g of boiled or fried lean meat; 200 g green salad with lemon juice; tea with honey.
Day 2:
Breakfast: grapefruit juice without sugar or 1 grapefruit; 2 boiled eggs; coffee or tea without sugar.
Lunch: 1 grapefruit; 50 g of cheese with a fat content of 20-30% or low-fat cottage cheese.
Dinner: 200 g of boiled or grilled lean fish; a large portion of green vegetable salad, seasoned with lemon juice and olive oil; 20 g of black bread.
Day 3:
Breakfast: grapefruit juice without sugar or 1 grapefruit; 2 tbsp. l. oatmeal or muesli with 1 tbsp. l. raisins, 2-3 chopped nuts (except peanuts) and 4 tbsp. l. low-fat yogurt or milk.
Lunch: 1 grapefruit; a cup of vegetable soup or clear broth with 2 crackers.
Dinner: 200 g chicken breast, grilled or boiled; 2 baked tomatoes; before bed - half a grapefruit.
Day 4:
Breakfast: a glass of tomato juice; 1 boiled egg; Tea with lemon.
Lunch: 1 grapefruit; a large portion of carrot or green salad, dressed with lemon juice and olive oil; a piece of bread or toast.
Dinner: 400 g of boiled or stewed vegetables (zucchini, cabbage, beets, carrots, celery); tea; before bed - fresh grapefruit or juice.
Day 5:
Breakfast: fruit salad of apple, grapefruit and orange; coffee or tea with lemon.
Lunch: 1 large baked potato; 200 g of green or cabbage salad.
Dinner: 200 g lean beef, or 250 g chicken breast, or 250 g fish fillet; tomato juice or baked tomato; before bed - grapefruit or juice.
Day 6-7: any menu from previous days.
The main limitation of the grapefruit diet is not to eat after 19:00.
The grapefruit diet is contraindicated for people with gastritis and stomach ulcers.
